T-TEP Career Day held at St. Patrick's Institute of Science and Technology

Karachi  [Mon. 6th February, 2006]
Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan and Indus Motor Company, as a good corporate citizen and to promote technical education in Pakistan, have established the Toyota Technical Educational Program (T-TEP). The Career Day of T-TEP was organised at the St. Patrick's Institute of Science and Technology.

The T-TEP program involves up-grading the syllabi of automobile engineering, providing training material and equipment, including simulators, training the trainers, audio visual aids etc. This is the second T-TEP institute set up in Pakistan; the first was set up four years ago at the Government of Lahore and the second at St. Patrick's Institute of Science and Technology in Karachi.

Toyota Technical Education Program was first introduced in USA in 1970s and currently there are more than 200 T-TEP Institutes worldwide. Toyota Motor Corporation & Indus Motor Company supports its distributors to foster and sustain the training activities at the T-TEP (affiliated) Institutes with the coordination of its local dealers.

The Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Masroor Ahmed Shaikh, Chairman Sindh Board of Technical Education lauded the important role that T-TEP plays in bridging the gap between industry and technical education and expressed his satisfaction in programs such as these, which serve the community and are beyond any commercial consideration. Additionally, he thanked Toyota Motor Corporation and Indus Motor Co in this pioneering effort.

Y. Arae, Vice Chairman Indus Motor Company, emphasized that dealers should induct high achievers as the need of the day is to induct educated and bright youngsters at the entry level.

The speeches were followed by recruitment interviews in which the graduating students were interviewed by Toyota dealerships for immediate employment. On this Career Day, about 15-20 graduating students were offered jobs at the dealerships. To date, several hundred T-TEP students have graduated and found jobs in Pakistan.
